HELP RESTORE UKRAINIAN CHILDREN'S MENTAL HEALTH

Glory to Ukraine!
The morning of February 24, 2022, changed our lives forever into "before" and "after"...
But life goes on.
Now, more than ever, we must do everything possible to help our children to overcome complex trauma caused by the war, find the inner and outer resources to restore balance, peace and strength to go on in life.
The rebuilding of the country begins with the recovery of our children’s lives.
Why do we focus on art therapy?
An estimated 7.1 million children, including more than 1.2 million children displaced within Ukraine, will need humanitarian aid and mental health recovery in 2023, according to UNICEF. All these children are at heightened risk of severe emotional distress.
Together, we can change this!
Performed by an art therapist who is trained in both art and psychology, art therapy uses creative materials to help children explore their thoughts and feelings.
Art therapy allows children to process the things that have happened to them and helps reduce stress and anxiety as they work through these challenges.
By providing children a safe place to express their negative feelings and emotions, art therapy has been shown to improve a child’s mental, emotional, and physical well-being.
What have we already done?
Developed and received accreditation from the Ministry of Education of Ukraine for two programs:
-
The program of professional development for specialists (school teachers, social workers, psychologists, and art therapists)
-
The program of psychological support for somatically weakened children in hospitals and educational institutions
What do we plan to do?
We’re committed to recovering Ukrainian children’s mental well-being:
-
Developing effective resources to respond to children’s mental health needs during and after the war in Ukraine
-
Developing effective programs to educate mental health professionals
-
Art therapy should become a part of the educational program in all Ukrainian schools!
